Assignment

Complete the following blog assignments by Friday! You should have your profile finished, comments made on other people's websites, and your blog personalized (with profile completed) by Friday, December 18th!

See file below for a list of assignments.

1st Blog Post: Your third reading book…what you like about it, what you want to read. Share what you have learned from your first two books.

2nd Blog Post: Highlights/Lowlights (overall) of your reading life this year. Include anything that you have read either for class or for fun and reflect on what you have taken away that is valuable from each work. Note: It does not have to be talking about books…it can also include articles, poems, song lyrics, or essays.

3rd Blog Post: How do you think about a theme? Why do you think understanding themes is important? Where else besides books do you see themes occurring? What is a theme from your reading that has been meaningful to you?

4th task: Visit someone else’s blog, read, and comment on one of their posts, connecting to what they say and also expanding on it by adding your own thoughts, experiences, or ideas. Repeat this for two more people.

5th task: Visit Ms. Crabtree’s blog, read her last post, then comment by connecting and expanding on her thoughts.

6th task: Personalize your blog! Have fun including pictures (but nothing that reveals specific information), video clips, audio clips, templates with your favorite colors, etc. Complete your profile, including the sections where you have to fill information in (interests, favorites, etc.)

Assignment

Check out the links under "Speak Links" on my home page. Record information in the appropriate places in your notebooks: Vocab Word List, Background Information on Speak, and Interdisciplinary Connections. When you are done recording your notes, write at least one page (about 100 words) on how what you read on the websites connects to your understanding of what is going on in Speak. Be prepared to share 1-2 important or interesting findings with the rest of the class!
