Career Pathways

Lincoln High School has five different career pathways to pursue while at Lincoln High School.
 
Architecture, Banking and Finance, Engineering (PLTW), Video and Theater Production, and Sports Careers.

ENGINEERING
 
Pathway To Engineering (PTE) program is a sequence of courses, which follows a proven hands-on, real- world, problem-solving approach to learning. Throughout PTE, students learn and apply the design process, acquire strong teamwork and communication proficiency and develop organizational, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. They discover the answers to questions like how are things made and what processes go into creating products?

BUSINESS AND FINANCE

Financial career opportunities are available in every sector of the economy and require skills in organization, time management, customer service and communication. This career pathway is designed to give high school students the ability to obtain such skills and knowledge in banking and finance to become financial literate young adults and to prepare them for life after high school.
 
Classes include:
  • Banking and Operator & Management
  • Finance / Planning & Investment
  • Student Banker (12 selected each year)
 
The program is broken up into three sections: 1) Introductory Course, 2) Concentrator Course, and a 3) Capstone Course: Finance, Banking and Tax Preparation and Financial Management.
 
It is intended to be taken in this order to achieve maximum student comprehension and growth. Throughout the 3 years students are gaining employability skills such as customer service, cash handling, written and oral communication, management of bank services, organization, and time management skills.

The Finance Course covers some of the following topics: workplace safety procedures, business mathematics, consumer accounts, credit cards, credit scores and reports, consumer loans, and budgeting.

The Banking Course subjects are: operation of a ten-key pad, banking policies and procedures, products and services offered by banking institutions, checks and deposits.

Financial Management Course focuses on: Tax preparation, filling status, federal state and local tax laws, bonds, stocks, and investments.

THEATER ARTS

 

  

 

The Theater and Stage Pathway offers opportunities for students to learn about and participate in all aspects of theatrical production from acting and play writing, to scenic design and lighting. Students will engage in theoretical practice, as well has hands on projects like school-wide theatrical productions.

Theater Foundations A/B
 

The emphasis in introduction to theater is artistic perception and creative expression. Students will be trained in the fundamental skills of the theatre arts, including improvisation techniques, body control, voice, diction, pantomime, learning of lines, creation of character, projection of ideas and emotions, and preparation and acting of scenes from plays. Acting projects will provide positive group experiences in collaborative assignments, developing self-discipline, evaluating the performances of others, and accepting constructive criticism.

 
Advanced Theater Production: (by audition only)
 
Students enrolled for Advanced Theater Production will work alongside the creative faculty and stage design team to produce a Fall Play, and Spring Musical every year.  In addition to the two larger productions, ATP students will have the opportunity to produce and direct smaller productions in the new Black Box theater including the Halloween production, Brown Bag Theater (student-generated material performed during lunch time) and so on.
