This annual event is conducted on Memorial Day at Cinco Puntos (Five Points) in East Los Angeles. It begins with a 24 hours vigil where the Hispanic war memorial is guarded by veterans from different military organizations from around East Los Angeles. Lincoln High School Army JROTC color guard was center stage of the event along with Roosevelt High School and Garfield High School. The ceremony began with a salute followed by placing of wreaths, 21 gun salute, taps, and even the release of doves.
